Pensei que era só Holy Bible.

I've already seen a topic here in the forum about the greets used fot Cristian in English but I really whould like to see on the website a post about Gospel English, I mean, English used on churchs for English Native Speakers, missionaries and so on. I've already seen when I worked in a hotel the new testament in English and Portuguese, side by side. by the way I have the bible in English on my DS but I think it's a really hard to read!

A versão mais usada atualmente é a New International Version. Muitos dão de cara com a tradicional versão King James e desistem da leitura.
Há várias versões bílingues (inglês/ português) disponíveis.

A ideia do post é muito boa.

By the way, in Medieval Latin "biblia sacra" is short for "the Holy Book". And Bible means ''the Books"

Na verdade, a versão Bíblica mais usada em Inglês é a King James Version ou, como também é chamada, The Authorised Version, e isto desde 1611. Sua correspondente em Português é a versão Almeida Corrigida Fiel, traduzida e publicada pela Sociedade Bíblica Trinitariana do Brasil.

Um estudo realizado em 2014 pelo Center for the Study of Religion and American Culture, por exemplo, apontou a King James Version como a versão mais amplamente lida pelos Norte-Americanos, além de ser a versão oficial da Church of England e a mais impressa e vendida.

Leitores que recorrem à New International Version alegando ser a King James Version uma tradução arcaica, antiquada e obscura da Bíblia Sagrada, o que não é verdade, justificando ser a King James Version uma Tradução Bíblica exata e literal dos textos originais em Hebraico e Grego.

Por exemplo:

Gênesis 1:4
Hebraico: E Ele viu Deus a luz que bom.
King James: And God saw the light, that it was good. (E Deus viu a luz, que era boa)

Enquanto a New International Version reza: God saw that the light was good. (Deus viu que a luz era boa)
Embora compreensível, não foi tão próxima, acurada e literal ao texto Hebraico quanto a King James Version que proporciona ao leitor a sensação de ler no próprio idioma materno (no caso o Inglês) o texto original em Hebraico e Grego.

A Trinitarian Bible Society de Londres, constatou que do total de 783.137 palavras da King James Version, apenas cerca de 300 são arcaicas.
