Como dizer "cantada" e "chamar a atenção" em inglês

Minha sugestão:

1)Cantada=Pick-up line,chat-up line.

2)Se este "chamar atenção" for enérgico temos:Tell sb off
Ex:The mother told her son off.
3)Se este "chamar atenção" for mais ponderado temos:Speak to sb
Ex:He´ll speak to her.(Ele vai chamar a atenção dela.)

"Cantada" is a noun, "cantar" is a verb,do you see what I mean?"To speak to sb" is a good option in this case(chamar atenção).Anyway,thank you for your sugestions.

For a mother-son, I wouldn't suggest "to tell off". That expression is more like "humilhar". If a mother is upset with a son, she would be more likely

to give him the dickens
to give him a (good) scolding]

or...

to give him what for [it sounds strange, but it's common]
to give him hell [very strong expression]
to give him heck [not as strong as "to give someone hell"]
to chew him out [common between boss and errant employee]

For "dar cantada", I think "to hit on someone" and "to make a move on someone" come close.

"To hit on someone" does not mean "bater em alguem". (To hit someone, yes. To hit on someone, no.) It means to show a lot of interest in a member of the opposite sex, flirting, trying to exchange phone numbers, etc.
