Como usar o phrasal verb "cut off"

Vi que tal pharal verb pode significar além de cortar algo terminado de forma inesperada, como for exemplo uma chamada de telefone.

Dai gostaria de saber se por exemplo quando eu estiver ao telefone e a ligação cair eu digo:

a) I got a cut off (In the middle of conversation I got cut off)
ou
b) I was cut off (in the middle of conversation I was cut off)
