Up to x until (até): Como utilizar

Não estou entendendo quando se usa "Up to" e "Until."

Eu fiquei muito confuso com esse exemplo aqui:

I'll still have to work there up to the end of the year. (blog.influx.com.br)
(Eu ainda terei que trabalhar lá até o final do ano.)

Só que eu poderia usar until ao invés de up to?
