Auxiliar "to" + verbo no gerúndio

Pessoal. Tudo bem?

Hoje escrevi um pequeno texto para contribuir em um artigo no linkedin e após escrever o texto, o inseri no chatGPT e solicitei que averiguasse se existia algum erro gramatical.

A frase era a seguinte:

"Horizontal feedback is excellent for understanding the perceived value of our work from the perspective of our coworkers and this can help you understand whether you are on the right path to achieve your goals and those of the company".

Ele alterou para essa forma:

"Horizontal feedback is excellent for understanding the perceived value of our work from the perspective of our coworkers and this can help you understand whether you are on the right path to achieving your goals and those of the company".

Eu não entendi muito bem porque o verbo ficou no gerúndio e não no infinitivo e questionei ao próprio chatGPT. A resposta foi que quando o verbo está sugerindo uma ação contínua deve-se utilizar o verbo no gerúndio e não no infinitivo.

Alguém pode falar mais sobre, dar exemplos, etc, por favor?
