Como dizer "Pérola" em inglês

By "pérola" I mean those sentences that are really funny. Sometimes they are also called "máximas".

For instance:

"Meu amigo soltou uma pérola. Ele disse que ..."

Thanks in advance ;)

Olá Tiago,

"Faux pass" referindo se uma gafe(comentário) ou comportamento.

"Pearls of wisdom". Veja o que diz o Longman:

Pearls of wisdom:Wise remarks - used especially when you really think that someone's remarks are slightly stupid:

Soltar uma pérola: Drop a pearl of wisdom

Well, not the type of pearl a misinformed Vestibular student will come up with now and then, right?

By a "pérola" I understand phrases, unconventional words, phrases, pronunciations, malapropisms, and semantic or linguistic errors, especially those resulting usually from stupidity, ignorance, mental confusion, or carelessness, made by an assortment of Vestibular students who literally or non-literally missed the point on their assignment dissertation exams.

Should we call it a word blunder? No?

Olá pessoal,

Seria possível dizer ''Look at his page on the facebook right away, he's dropping some pearls there''

Estaria correto?

Daniel,

Eu não recomendo a frase acima. Eu diria algo como "(take a) look at his pearls of wisdom on Facebook now".

Bons estudos.
