Answered with a flat denial - Tradução em português

Olá, gostaria de saber se "answered with a flat denial" pode ser considerada uma expressão idiomática no inglês.
Vi uma tradução assim "respondeu com um redondo não".

Natalia, that is what I would call it. How can a denial be flat, sharp, oblong, or any other shape? We also use flat to describe voices and musical notes.

Hi guys
This is pretty much the same as "He gave me a straight no" (um redondo não?!?!)
The adjective "flat" here means "sem enfeites" "simples"
as in this dictionary definition
"5. Free of qualification; absolute: a flat refusal."
The adjective "flat" has several other meanings but this doesn't necessarily mean that its use here is idiomatic.
An idiomatic expression is a phrase whose meaning cannot be determined from the meanings of the component words.
I would say the phrase "answered with a flat denial" is not an idiomatic expression
