Now - final de frase: 'for a year now' - Tradução em português

Hi, dear friends I want to know what's the more appropiate meaning of the adverb "now" in the sentence:
"I've been trying to get work for about a year now". the translation for this phrase would be " Estou tentando conseguir trabalho por cerca de um ano agora" ? For me, this "agora " gets weird. Is there another possible and better translation for this "now" that fit that phrase?
