Como dizer "Enveredar por esse caminho" em inglês

No, I didn´t give it much tought, but I ended up taking that path and I liked it/and I loved it. That´s what matters to me right now.

If we go this way, we will get there early.

I must say that "go this way" (ir por esse caminho) =enveredar por esse caminho, is a bit of poetical, not usual.
But I let you know, just for learning´s sake, who knows once in a blue moon you find it in a poetry book! or even by reading some prose in wich the writer likes the style.

Ainda no sentido de "tomar uma decisão":

To go down that road
To go down a certain road

"Is that the road you want to go down?" (Is that the course of action you are willing to take?)

"We'd better not go down that road again". (We'd better not do that again)

"It would be possible, but let's not go down that road (again)".
