Sabe quando a pessoa sussurra, a voz saindo fina, sai um "fiapo de voz"? Como dizer essa expressão em inglês?
"Onde?" Eu pergunto. Minha garganta está tão seca que sai apenas um fiapo de voz.

My throat was so dry/inflamed that I talked in a hoarse voice.
It´s not that cracked and inflamed would be the same thing, it´s there is an overlap of the said symptom (hoarse voice). And hoarse here is to be thought as the weakened voice, given the vocal strain. Not the grave voice (that can also be thought as hoarse).
Indeed it could be described with the two words "hoarse, thin voice", for example. Somehow croaky, raspy.

My throat is so dry (that) I can barely speak.
My dry throat is the cause of my thin / faint voice.
