Fretar = to charter
"The school chartered a tour bus." = "A escola fretou um ônibus de excursão." (Longman)
"I need to charter an airplane." = "Preciso fretar uma aeronave."
PS: What I find very interesting (and odd) about this verb is that the correct way is "I charter", not "I chart", as most of us (me included) may think.

And it wouldn't be the only one. Cf. master, barter, father, mother all function as verbs too. There must be a significant number of these noun-verb types.
