Agreed, "cagey" is a way to express that. It seems like the context being that both teams were too cautious, careful. So both were playing defense, making the match so boring that the commentator had plenty of time to poke fun with the player being so slim that he might have been inspiration to the flimsy Switzerland strip!

As a football enthusiast, I need to confess that I simply despise a 'cagey game'. This usually happens when one team decides to 'park the bus'. That is, players crowd the box in order to avoid conceding a goal. Unfortunately, Euro 2016 has been short in goal supply; However, it has been undeniably well-off for flimsy jerseys.

It was a goaless stalemate in wich both teams were showing signs of weakness, no action to be seen there. No chances were created, again, it was a spiritless display; not much separate the quality of both teams. A forgettable whole match indeed.
Even Neymar looked as if he didn´t want to be there.

"Stretch the game" é o mesmo que abrir o jogo pelas alas, fazendo jogadas pelos lados tentando cruzamentos, também aumentando a distância entre as duas defesas, portanto o meio-de-campo não fica tão compacto.

Corinthians e Santos foi um jogo amarrado/truncado com poucas chances de gol e com uma atuação apagada do craque santista Neymar.

Corinthians - Santos was a poor game/was a game with a lacklustre in wich both teams had a lacklustre/lifeless performance, Neymar lacked vitality/was uninspired/was a shadow of what he has been.

Both teams were bad, their soccer players had a subpar performance, even Neymar was uninspired.
