Como dizer "Paitrocínio" em inglês

Zumstein 1 31 446

@Thomas:

Please beware the word "paitrocínio" does not exist in Portuguese, not even as a slang term.

"Paitrocínio", as suggested, can be defined as a creative fusion of both words pai (father) + patrocínio (financial sponsership) resulting in: paitrocínio.

That is, fundings that someone receives from his or her father.

A child would say "My parents give me a weekly allowance." A teen or young adult would avoid that word as it sounds childish and even demeaning. He would explain it by saying something like:

My parents are paying my tuition and living expenses while I am at college.
My dad pays my Little League fees and buys my uniform and equipment.
My mom is helping me out financially while I pursue a master's degree.

Remember that it is VERY COMMON for American students (possibly in high school and almost certainly in college) to have jobs that pay some or all of their expenses.

Zumstein, the English language has at least three words to express your idea. The following definitions/examples are not rigid but flexible per the context. In some contexts, the terms may be interchangeable.

Stipend - Money given to students (sort of a scholarship or "bolsa"), common among medical interns, sometimes paid to workers in addition to their salary to pay for unusual expenses related to their work (unusually high cost of housing, transportation, hardship, etc.(

Allowance - Money paid to children by their parents, often in recognition of the performance of certain tasks (mowing the lawn, washing the dishes, etc.), sometimes paid to workers who must use their personal car to perform their duties as employees, etc.

Sponsorship - This is the money provided by a business, club, charity, etc. to pay for the uniforms, transportation, etc. of sport teams. The money could also be paid to a student to pay for costs of his education, housing, etc. A church may sponsor a missionary, a clinic, etc.

Is the word "paitrocínio" or "patrocínio"?
