I'm getting old. = Estou ficando velho.

Problable situations:
I´m getting old. I just said that because I forgot something (and I keep forgetting stuff).
We could also use "I must be getting old" (because I keep forgetting stuff, or because I realized that some song is sooo old for the new generations to know it).
I´m getting older. Some likelyhood that today is my birthday, or I recall that I am getting long on the tooth and don´t do some things that I did. Or I don´t need to do them anymore.
But then, just probabilities (and examples) here. NeyF already has nailed it, the translation into Portuguese is spot-on.
