I am still in the process of learning English. I was fifth-grade student (sixth-grade by the new standards of Brazil education system) when I met English (it was a subject of study) classes.
My way of learning was reading everything that fell into my hands, and it wasn´t different with English. I had a restless mind, and an urge to learn new things. English since then, was a passion of sorts.
Anyway, pronounce was an issue, I learned many words and expressions the wrong way, I listened a radio from abroad and then I didn´t get what the guy said. Well, where there´s a will there´s a way, some time after that it came the advent of magazines, books etc with tapes (and CDs afterwards). I got better at it with magazines like Speak Up, etc.
If you search within this site you will find lots of tips on studying English, book titles, opinions about English schools, etc.
I also am glad that today there are sites like this to share knowledge, ideas and to the members help each other, today is way easier than those days.
