Exercício: Vestibular UFRGS questão de gramática

Hi y'all,

I was comparing my UFRGS' CV2011 answers to theirs (which can be found here), and I was doing pretty well (19 out of 19 right answers) until I checked question 70. It is as it follows:

"Consider the segment The train engines belch smoke (l. 04).

Which alternative below presents the same sentence structure?

(A) I carried out my promise.

(B) The coach is at the end of the train.

(C) I kept my mouth shut.

(D) I tipped him a further two rupees.

(E) He was a rather strong man."

They list (A) as being the correct one. But doesn't having a verbal phrase (carry out) alter the whole thing? Such phrase isn't found at the example, which leads me to believe it's not the right answer.
