What, after all, is a "flathead"? I knew I'd hear the word, and had some faint idea that it was derogatory. For our purposes today, here's the meaning that applies (from the Urban dictionary):

A term used to describe someone with few or no brains or common sense, resulting from repeated beating of one's head against the wall. An antiquated term from mid-20th century.
Little Joey runs out into the street.. in front of a careening ice-cream truck. Dad yells, "Joey! You flathead! Get out of the street!!"

Now, let me juxtapose the above to an article I have just been reading about Thomas Friedman, the famous (or infamous, depending on your point of view) New York Times columnist who's published many books, one of the latest being The World is Flat -- which is the subject of the article in question, at
