Repetição do Artigo em inglês

Hello folks,
I would like to know what is right:
Ex: Do you want a blue or a red pencil?
OR
Ex: Do you want a blue or red pencil

My question is that: when i can use the same article to refer to two or more words i have to put this article to every other word i mention or just once in the phrase.
