Estava fazendo umas traduções e me deparei com o phrasal verb "put off" na seguinte frase: I was put off chicken by reading about how the birds are kept., cujo significado é to make someone dislike something or someone or to make them not want to do something.
Eu traduzi a frase "I was put off chicken by reading about how the birds are kept." como "Eu fiquei desanimado ao ler sobre como as aves são mantidas.", mas não tenho certeza se essa tradução está correta devido ao fato de ter a palavra "chicken" que não entendi muito bem o motivo de estar ali.

Minha tradução para esse contexto:
I was put off chicken by reading about how the birds are kept.
Eu perdi a vontade de comer frango ao ler sobre como as aves são mantidas.

Yep, certainly the "chicken" in "put off chicken" might have been for effect (and emphasis), as it was on the subject of birds (aves) so the "ave" (bird) in question must be chicken.

Only with an aside note. In this case it must have been a bit slangy/colloquial, since "I was put off chicken" was a bit of short for "I was put off eating chicken". Putt off doing... - is expected. But they have many ways to express themselves, sometimes way more concise than in Portuguese.

Obrigado pela resposta Carlos, mas ainda estou com uma dúvida na palavra "chicken" depois do phrasal verb, no caso ela não tem uma tradução e simplesmente serve para, de alguma maneira, dar ênfase ao phrasal verb "put off"?
