There is this other context, of a teacher that has favourites, he might go easy on some students, have a pet, etc and be tough to others.

"What is good for one is equally good for all." Sums up well the idea, behind "what´s is good for the goose is good for the gander."

So, in a way if you do something evil to someone else you don´t complain about what happens to you now. In the context of dysfunctional relationships one party of the couple could say "ah, okay, wait and you´ll see what is good for the goose is good for the gander". (ou seja, o vento que bate lá bate cá - ou - a sede que dá no boi dá na vaca...).

But, okay. In modern times, some journalists have appropriated of the saying and stated in some of their articles "what is good for the goose may not be good for the gander!"

So, yes, it may with that little redoing, in the part "..may not be for the gander" it can be used in that sense. It´s not every day that you see it used in this way, though. Just by the bold and brave, not the faint of heart.

Okay, okay, there are the two meanings: I saw in the Wikitionary:

What's good for the goose is good for the gander

What is good for a woman is equally good for a man; or, what a woman can have or do, so can a man have or do.

What is good for one type is equally good for another type, despite any irrelevant differences between the types.

I knew the first use, not the second. So, I thought it was a stretch of sorts. But that´s okay, two different meanings then.
