Como dizer "eu cortei" e "eu nasci" em inglês

I would like to know which the correct way of saying these terms in the past is, because both are irregular. I think the right way is "I cut" and "I was born". But why? And is there any verb that has this same issue?

Eu nasci: I was born --> I was born ten thousand years ago. [Eu nasci dez mil anos atrás.]
Por que? Why?
Because they are the natural/idiomatic ways. That is how native speakers use them. Yes, there are other verbs.

Yep, and to know that it is in the past/present form you will have to look for clues in the context.
For example:
I have just cut my finger! or I have cut my finger. is different of
I cut my finger yesterday or I cut my finger once (cutting an orange etc)/Last week I cut my finger...when I cut my finger...
