Depende do contexto de "bater". Há "hit", "knock", "beat" e assim por diante.

When you knock it, does it make noise?(correta)

When you knock it, it makes noise, doesn´t it? (correta)

Realmente depende,mas no caso ai eu nem me importei,minha dúvida estava porque a primeira frase não tinha sujeito,e eu estava com dificuldade pra montar ela corretamente,Agradeço pelas respostas.

Here is the problem, Gustavo. If we only say "to knock", people assume we are knocking on a door. "When you knock (on the door), does it make a noise?" It sounds much more natural to add "on it" when speaking of something other than a door.

"Noise" sounds more natural to me in English than "noises".

And there is another problem. "To knock it" does not mean "bater nele" but "criticá-lo".
Don't knock it, it is a good job. - Não fale mal de meu trabalho, é um emprego muito bom.
Don't knock it if you haven't tried it. - Nao critique coisas que não conhece.


Another useful verb is "to rap". No, I am not talking about music or poetry. "To rap" is roughly equivalent to "to knock".
He rapped on the door three times. - He knocked on the door three times.
He rapped on the barrel three times. - He knocked on the barrel three times.
