A few words of caution here.
"Fruit makes for your health", como sentença completa, não seria inglês-padrão. Precisariamos de uma outra construção, em que essa expressão se torna parte de uma oração mais extensa, tal como
The difference fruit makes for your health is measurable.
Eu não me apoiaria muito nessa fonte, Adriano.
Semelhantemente, "Fruit are healthy" tem significado duvidoso: não se sabe se falamos do estado da fruta, ou do que elas provocam no consumidor. Seria melhor:
Fruits are healthy foods. (para o consumidor) (Ou: Fruit is healthy food.)
These fruits are healthy. (para a qualidade da fruta)
O uso do singular e plural de "fruit" pode causar problemas. See http://www.pearsonlongman.com/ae/azar/g ... 00231.html, for example.

Gostei muito da observação da ambiguidade presente nas frases, pois detectá-la em frases em português ( nativos ) muitas vezes já é difícil, em inglês mais ainda.Henry Cunha escreveu:A few words of caution here.

CURSO DE PRONÚNCIA
Um pouco mais sobre fruit / fruits, e como decidir sobre a conjugação do verbo quando essa palavra é o sujeito.
Uma maneira fácil é de acompanhar a pessoa do determinante ou modificador, podendo usar o singular ou plural de fruit:
These fruit are delicious. (These are delicious.)
These fruits are delicious. (These are delicious.)
I like all fruit that have no seeds. (All [of them] have...)
I like all fruits that have no seeds. (same as above)
Neste caso, o modificador aceita o singular ou plural do verbo, e ficamos dependendo da escolha entre fruit / fruits:
Some fruit is harvested in the fall. (Some is...)
Some fruits are harvested in the summer. (Some are...)
E neste caso, o singular do verbo faz mais sentido:
I like any fruit that has green skin.
Any other cases that you can think of?
