If a group of students decides not to come to school on a certain day because that specific day is close to a holiday and the teacher does not care about their decision, that is, he or she will lecture provided that a single student shows up, they all compromise not to attend classes so that the teacher (or teachers) won't lecture and they won't have to catch up with any school subject later because they were absent on that specific day.
In Portuguese we say "fazer parede" or "fazer paredão" in alusion to a big wall representing student's togetherness, strength and persuation over other students who are not willing to join they're skipping-class plan.
It is likely that some native speakers of english would suggest expressions like cut class or even skip classes. But the main idea here is regarding the studen'ts union planning on persuading other students not to turn up at school on a specific day.
Having said that, does anyone have any suggestions on how to say it in English?

If the students claim to be at home sick, we would call it a "sick out". A "walk out" is when the students are in class and decide to leave and return home. Both terms are also used by workers as a form of illegal strike. When police officers have a "sick out", it is called "the blue flu", with blue referring to color of a uniform. There may be other names, but no others come to mind at the moment.

I cannot think of a single time that students in the USA united in the fashion described above. There have been times that students protested something by "staging a walkout", by going to school and then leaving for home within the first minutes. But to get a "bridge", a three-day-weekend, no way.
