Como dizer "ficar menos/ficar mais" em inglês

Hello folks, how did you spend your carnival?

How can I say "ficar menos" in English according the phrase's context bellow:

I've cutted off my hair to try to "ficar menos" ungly.

Could I use: get less / be less?

I thought to use: stay verb, but I think that "stay" means to stay in somewhere or place.
