I think secretive is a strong word for fechado. What Brazilians call fechado, I would call being a private person, someone who likes his privacy.

How much I earn, how much I weigh, how old I am, etc. are my business and I feel no obligation to tell others who just want to satisfy their curiosity.

You can also be "evasive" about something or give "evasive answers/replies/etc."
Reservado - Ou seja, já possuí dono, ou alguém presente. - reserved, exclusive , and secretive.
Fechado- Ou seja, não abrirá. - Closed (mais usado para lojas, bares e etc), pent, sealed (este é mais usado para objetos).

Andy, If I were to ask you about your sex life and you were to refuse to answer, would you be evasive or would I be nosy? I think there is a strong cultural element in this concept.

Thomas, I see what you mean. An "evasive" person is most likely trying to hide something. I guess "reserved" would be a more appropriate word in this context.
