Cross x Go through: Qual é a diferença?

De uma forma geral, ambos tem sentidos semelhantes. Na prática, vejo "cross" sendo mais usado em expressões como "cross the street","cross the river", "cross the road". "Go through" seria típico de "go through a crisis", "go through (a period of) hardship", "go through a hard time".

An interesting question...
To cross the street = to go from one side of the street to the other
Let's cross the street and go to the car.
To go through the street = to travel in the street
The parade went through the street, from First Avenue to Birch Lane.
To cross the park = to start at one side of the park and go to the other side
We crossed the park to our car.
To go through the park = to travel inside the park (possibly leaving the park at the same place entered)
We went through the park looking for him, but we did not find him.
We went through the park (crossed the park) on our way home.
To go through = to use all of something, to exhaust the supply of something
Have you gone through all the diapers yet? The baby is wet again.
To cross = to anger someone by acting in a defiant way
Don't cross the boss. Do as he says.
