Diferença entre "convey" e "transmit"

Hello my dear english expert friends, I'd like to know the difference in meaning for these two words above for to communicating ideas or feelings, so take a look

"Please convey my appreciation to your President."

"I want to convey you the need to become enterprising"


and my question: Is it in this case these words interchangeable or not?
