A palavra "schuck" surgiu no Yiddish (um idioma baseado no Alemão e usado pelos judeus principalmente na Europa central) no final do século XIX e significava "pênis".

Atualmente é usado como gíria na lingua inglesa e significa "idiota" e suas variações como "otário", "babaca", etc. Essa conotação ganhou força a partir dos anos 80 e 90.
