Esse é um trecho do livro "the Rebel of sands", e nele (e outros textos) me deparei com o que parecem ser phrasal verbs com um traço, como você podem ver no texto aí em cima: "gutted-out", "boarded-up".

1-Pra que serve esse traço?
2-Isso é um phrasal verb, e se for altera o sentido do original (sem traço)?
