O que significa "whopp'en" ?

This probably comes from the verb "to whip" (chicotear). The pronunciation has changed with use to create other verbs which mean basically the same thing: "to whop" and "to whoop" which can also be used to mean to punish or defeat someone.

In this case of the song, "put a whopping to my backside", means to beat or hit someone on the butt (backside) in order to punish them.

But the pronunciation of "put a whopping" is actually "put a whopp'en".

It's like "Rock 'n Roll". It's really spelled Rock and Roll, but what comes out sounds more like Rock 'n Roll, so they actually spell it how it really sounds (the apostrophe is there to represent the absence of letters).
