Olá, pessoal... estou com uma dúvida tremenda: não consigo apreender, com segurança, o significado deste trecho, que faz parte de um livro do séc. XIV (daí o uso de "art" - 2nd person singular present indicative of be). Aqui vai:

"For I know that Thou art the highest thing of all: if indeed Thou art a thing, and not rather the cause of all things-if indeed Thou art a cause."

A primeira parte eu entendo como "Pois sei que és maior que tudo [o texto refere-se a Deus]:" daí pra frente eu custo a compreender o pensamento do autor.
