Hi guys I'm looking for the meaning of this sentence.
I know what grid means, but how people can hide things under it?
Is there any different meaning for grid? Besides "grade" ou "grelha"?

What you're trying to convey here is that whatever you did as a kid, was like... Under the radar, away from the spotlights so that no one would mind it or pay no attention to it, either to avoid any unwanted judgments or to keep it to yourself.

É figura de linguagem com certeza, existem "gutter grids", "fan grids", 'grids in front of cars" etc. Tudo pra proteger ou esconder o que está na parte interior.
No caso da música o autor da frase escondeu a si mesmo lá, pra proteger-se emocionalmente, ou apenas escondia as suas ações e não precisava responder, sofrer, etc por elas.
