Como construir frases com o “Named after”

Olá, pessoal, tudo bem?

Estou com uma dúvida sobre como usar Named after.
Já fiz algumas pesquisas e cheguei a algumas conclusões,
Portanto, vou deixar aqui dois textos que escrevi, e gostaria de saber se fiz o uso correto.

Neste primeiro exemplo “Named” e “after” não estão juntos, este uso é correto?

Este exemplo é mais comum, mas...

Despite all that, the brown-haired boy (who was named after a video game character) and his whole family are american; being his father native of the place where they live, while his mom is german.
