The Pursuit of Happyness is a 2006 American biographical drama film based on entrepreneur Chris Gardner's nearly one-year struggle being homeless. Christopher Paul Gardner struggled with homelessness while raising his toddler son, Christopher Gardner Jr., during the early 1980's. The movie is based on Gardner's book of memories The Pursuit of Happyness, which was published in May 2006.
Nowadays, Gardner's life is an example of anyone who wishes to overcome financial problems and is struggling with a job career. The movie was released in the same year and featured Will Smith and his son Jaden as the protagonists.
Note: The unusual spelling of the title comes from a mural that Gardner saw on the wall outside the daycare facility his son attended. He complained to the owner of the daycare that "happiness" was incorrectly spelled as "happyness" and needed to be changed. As a marketing effect, the result was so predictable.
