Como dizer ''Algum tempo atrás" em inglês

Queria dizer há algum tempo atrás e achei o:

*some time ago
*a while ago

Contudo me pareceram não se encaixar tão bem nesta frase:

-I just would like to point something to you. Há algum tempo atrás I thought the trouble was me. But then I’ve realized that you are the problem here.

Obrigado!

You can use both.
In your sentence I'd use "Some time ago..." but it's a matter of choice.
Another option would be to change your sentence: "I used to think (that) the problem was me..." meaning "Eu costumava pensar que o problema era eu." It changes that a little bit, but I guess you can be understood.

To be honest I'd rewrite your sentences "I would like to point out something to you. Some time ago I thought the problem was me. But then I realized that the problem here was you."

My tips:
You can see I used "problem" in both sentences.
*[Trouble] is uncountable, to use it with the article would be incorrect.

I chose "some time ago" which is perfectly correct (answering to your question).
*As I said it is a matter of choice. Some time back, for example, is an option available.

"Then I realized..." instead of [I've realized...] I guess past is the correct tense in that sentence because the words "then I realized" mean you realized at a specific moment (in the past). Perfect present does not fit with words related to past tense (a specific moment).

Just a suggestion right.
You'd better wait some replies.
