Como dizer "despachante" em inglês

Bom dia pessoal!
Estou morando nos Estados Unidos e preciso de um despachante. Eu encontrei o termo "forwarding agent", mas não sei se essa é a melhor maneira de descrever a função. Alguém pode me ajudar?
Abraços,
Priscila

DESPACHANTES do not officially exist in the USA. If you have a problem with DMV (DETRAN), you handle the problem yourself.

Customs brokers/agents may appear to be despachantes, but they are not in my humble opinion. They are well trained and even licensed. Can the Brazilian despachante say the same?

I live in Guatemala where I used a despachante (called "tramitadora" here) to assist me in getting a permanent visa. Did I have to? No. I could have done everything myself or hired an immigration attorney. Was she well trained and/or licensed? I do not know, but she had a good reputation and was effective. I was very pleased with her professionalism. I do not recall hearing of despachantes in Panama. In the area of immigration, I was told they do not exist. In Costa Rica and Mexico despachantes are seen as criminals doing illegal and unethical things. In Costa Rica they are called "gavilanes" (falcoes) and in Mexico they are known as "coyotes" (coiotes). Does that sound like they are respected? I am currently visiting Mexico. In a Queretaro restaurant recently I saw a sign forbidding the entrance of "coyotes". In Mexico they are considered scum.

My suggestion to Pry is that he see a customs broker about his problem. If the broker is the wrong person to handle the problem, the broker will probably know someone else who has the specialized information and experience.

Ninguém respondeu essa pergunta. No meu caso comprei um carro zero e ao invés de ir no Detran resolvi fazer os documentos pelo despachante. Alguém poderia me dizer como falaria isso pra um americano?

Agreed. There´s no word to it in English-speaking English, it´s some sort of a Brazilian or L.A. thing.
A close descriptions to it I found on the site Kudoz was "a go-between", and one even closer (perhaps even an apt synonymous) is " an intermediary" as I found in the following academical text.

More colloquially, one could refer to it as "a fixer" wich helps you to go through the red tape, the paperwork and do some errands to the institution (DETRAN, Policia Federal, what you have).

Although they don´t take a course to do that, in general the "DETRANs" (State Transport Deparment) keep a record of them, since some time ago they acted like "lobbysts" for their clients. Not to mention other headaches. Today, one might have to be authorized to do such services, even if DETRAN doesn´t charge anything for that.
