Como dizer “espalhar” em inglês

Olá guys!
My question is, how could I say in a two different sentences that something it is “espalhado”?
In the first case, we have the following situation:
A room, full of clothes “ESPALHADAS” in every part of the room. My mom says:
-Max! E essas roupas espalhadas no chão?
E a segunda situação seria, eu passando um produto muito forte em uma maçaneta, mas eu digo para meu colega, que só pode passar o produto na maçaneta, não pode deixar espalhar para a madeira.
E queria saber se teria diferença entre “split”e “spread” e como saber quando usar eles nas sentenças.

I like the suggestions made by @MatheusRossi, I think you should go with those. I do like that Paulo came up with "lying around" to refer to the clothes being spread on the floor, but none of those sentences as a whole is in proper question structure.

Max, why all these clothes are lying about? (also - laying about - but some grammarians don´t like it this way).

It can be expressed in other ways too, I came up with this because it expresses well what you mean. Given the circumstances. So, it would do.
On "impatient mode":
Max what´s going on here, why all these clothes are (left) lying around?
Max what´s the matter with you? Why all these clothes are (left) lying around?
Max, this is not the right way for getting noticed. By leaving clothes scattered all over the place. Next time try to get noticed by taking the trash out or doing some other chore around the house. (here in an attempt to be fun, of course, it would work if combined with the right body communication style.)

Rub the product to disperse (it) over the knob, but don´t let it spread onto the wood. (or ...be careful not to apply it onto the wood).
Of course, there are other ways to express that. Any suggestions for improvement are welcome, or even fresh sentences.
