"Curse someone out" e outras expressões

What's up guys?

Expanding our vocabulary:

1. Curse someone out= xingar alguém

EX: I'm going to curse him out

2. Bookworm = nerd = CDF

EX: You know Jen is such a bookworm? The only thing the guy does is study all day long, no chicks, no beer and no sex.

3. rag = pano (pano para limpeza por exemplo) /retalho

EX: Hey could you please hand me that rag on the desk? I need to clean up the kitchen

4. Godspeed = expressão utilizada quando alguém morre como "vai com Deus" ou quando alguém enfrentará uma tarefa/ um trabalho perigoso ou árduo como em "que sejas bem sucedido/ boa sorte"

EX: Godspeed mom! You will always be in our hearts!

5. To be about to do something = estar prestes a fazer algo

EX: I'm am about to kill her.

8. Foot the bill = pagar a conta

EX: who's going to foot the bill?

9. to be a pain in one's ass= ser um pé no saco/ pela saco (cuidado ao usá-la pois trata-se de uma expressão vulgar)

EX: Jimmy is such a pain in my ass

10. to have bigger fish to fry = ter algo mais importante à fazer

EX: I gotta go now guys, I've got bigger fish to fry

11. to come out = vir a tona

EX: The truth will finally come out.

12. hang up the phone (desligar o telefone) hang up the phone on one's face (bater o telefone na cara de alguém)

EX: Mary hang up the phone now! It's been two hours since you called your boyfriend!

EX: Why did you hang up on me dude?

13. daydream (viajar na maionese/ sonhar acordado)

EX: Can you please stop daydreaming and pay attetion at me?

14. slang= gíria

15 cop = policial

16. To fix = consertar/reparar/ subornar (gíria)

Ex: I need someone to fix my car

Ex: He tried to fix the cops

Madonna dumped her brazilian boyfriend Jesus ( to dump someone: dar um pé na bunda de alguém)


Oh my god, wait a minute I must give a dump now. (give a dump: dar uma cagada/defecar)


Why don't you guys dump this table? It's too old. ( to dump something = jogar algo fora/ descartar algo)


How do I get to the city dump ? ( city dump = lixão da cidade)
