What or who hasn't the acclaiming media manipulated so far? The marketing people do a lot of manipulation. So much so that one still buys a pig in a poke (without ever worrying about poking the pig). Some juice maker may piss into a bottle and sell it for pure 100% juice to the unwary juice drinker. And I may write pompously and still insist on selling it as... English!
I have come a long way. (And still sell it for short.)
