I am struggling with the text bellow, mainly with these expressions written in boldface. How can I translate it to Portuguese?

Dahlia is a pretty young girl who grew up on the streets, but when a passing talent scout notices her she gets on the fast track to fame and fortune. But there's one catch, she has diabetes, and she refuses to heed the warning signs.
