Where x In which: Qual utilizar

Escrevi o trecho abaixo em um artigo e o revisor pediu para substituir "in which" por "where". Porém, em português o correto seria escrever "nas quais" ao invés de "onde". Por que então ele sugeriu essa alteração?

"Such deformations are minimized when the crystals are maintained at cryogenic temperatures, in which silicon presents high thermal conductivity."
