Amigo, eu diria diferente até em português isso:
I heard three bomb explosions.
I heard bomb explosions three times.
I heard three bomb explosions.
I heard bomb explosions three times.
I heard three loud explosions/loud bangs. (loud enough to be heard miles away, so I/we assume it was a bomb).
Such loud explosions could describe from a gas explosion (an explosion from a gas leaking), a gas station going up... to a bomb explosion itself... So, depending on the country one is he could assume that it was a bomb or not. I know what you are talking about, recent news - but generally people are likely to say "ouvi um barulho parecido com uma bomba -ou um barulho parecido com o de uma bomba/parecia com uma bomba" etc...depending of the degree of emotion, fear, drama involved, etc.

In 1995 a military an ammunition depot in Brazil was rocked by a series of explosions, of course at that time there wasn´t such a terror-buzzword, so one would just say it were "loud explosions that happened".
Today perhaps they would said that were "bomb-explosion sounds" spot on...And then, would correct himself afterwards.

Let´s imagine it was just three, and we might have said "we heard three loud explosions."
Chemical Industry fires can also trigger similar explosions and (similar) subsequent sounds.
