Ola! Por favor, como poderia dizer: “eu não sei se ele está blefando ou quer me impressionar”.
Eu não sei se está blefando ou quer me intimidar (intimidar no mal sentido mesmo).

(bluffing is the same as playing hardball by deceiving - and usually making threats, empty threats or not).
In Portuguese "blefar" is almost synonym with "lie" but in English, it has a 'bully-ish1 ring to it. It is the fact that one is making believe that he is stronger than he is. That is bluffing is an intimidation technique, albeit not all intimidation techniques involve bluffing.
