Como dizer "dezenas" em inglês

anita 13
Hi, again! How can I say "dezenas de pessoas" in Eglish? Is it "tens of people". Sounds strange, but... I'm waiting on some advice. Thanks a lot!

Yes, tens of people is fine. It's also common to say "dozens of people." Regards

Henry, a question for you: would it be the same meaning if I said "tens of people" and "dozens of people"? Dozens refers to 12, right?
And Donay, thanks for the link. It was an interesting discussion!

Anita, the meaning is the same. I suspect "dozens of people" is far more common than "tens of people." Yes, dozens refers to sets of twelves. It's typical in English to say, for example, "several dozen people" or "several dozen times" when referring imprecisely to some estimated quantity under one hundred. We also hear "tens of thousands," or "tens of millions," but not "tens of hundreds" (preferably, "several hundred"). Regards
