In my dictionary, I found Jerry-built, but the entry is
(old-fashioned, disapproving) built quickly and cheaply without caring about quality or safety
here, we can see the work like Jedson wrote
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.p ... =jerry-rig
good tip.

Gambiarra, gato, esquema:
Jury-rig: fazer uma gambiarra em [fazer funcionar de forma improvisada, temporariamente]
Quick fix: quebra-galho [algo que visa resolver um problema de forma rápida, mas não definitiva]
Exemplo de uso:
"Our TV wasn't working, but he jury-rigged it so we can use it this week. This is just a quick fix until we can get somebody to repair it permanently."
"A nossa TV não estava funcionando, mas ele fez uma gambiarra nela para que a gente possa usá-la este semana. Isto é só um quebra-galho até podermos mandar alguém consertá-la permanentemente."
Bons estudos.
- Definição: Serviço feito especialmente com a finalidade de obter energia elétrica, internet, TV a cabo, água, etc de maneira ilegal.
- "Kevin Hill's affluent bachelor lifestyle was permanently altered after his no- account cousin was electrocuted while trying to illegally tap into cable TV [ fazer gato, fazer gambiarra na TV a cabo]." - Books Google – Hal Erickson
- "At the same time, 75 percent of households were tapping into electricity illegally [fazendo gato, fazendo gambiarra com a energia], despite the large fines imposed." - Books Google - Caroline O. N. Moser
- "Mario taps into Internet illegally [faz gato, faz gambiarra para usar internet]."

My suggestion:
To do (make) a gambiarra..
A brazilian expression. It basically means to use improvised methods / solutions to solve a problem, with any avaiable material.
English equivalents would include "McGyverism", "Kludge","Quick Fix", "Alternative Engineering", "Workaround", and so on
Source: Urban Dictionary.
For example:
1)
Person 1: I fixed the shower, go take a look at it!
Person 2: What's with all those wires? Thats one hell of a gambiarra you did!
Person 1: Hey, at least it works!... Kinda.
2)
Person 1: Thank goodness you made the car work again! Have you made a gambiarra?
Person 2: I prefer to call it 'alternative engineering'
Bye!
