This is pretty standard language for positions where discussions do take place.
I can understand Thomas' post, however, because there isn't much discussion when it comes to the salary of a sales clerk. Walmart and Macdonald's don't ask you how much you think you're worth.

Eu diria também : wage to be settled. já que settle tem a conotação de ajustar, combinar, acerto e quitar.
