Achei interessante que 'senão' pode ser 'but':

Eu sempre procuro as informaçoes na internet e/ou dicionário antes de perguntar. Como não era a primeira vez que tinha lido esta palavra e as pesquisas não foram esclarecedoras achei melhor perguntar.

Este é o contexto:

Como a conversa era muito informal, eu usei 'but'. Mas será que poderia ter escrito algo bem melhor?
