E, mesmo, dentro do contexto não me parece tão claro assim, pois é difícil imaginar que uma mulher preferiria elogios em vez joias "sem pensar duas vezes"! Rs

Esse é o contexto equivalente, trabalhe com contexto e não buscando entender a frase traduzindo as palavras com seus equivalentes principais individuais, nem sempre isso funciona.

"Any day" nesse caso é uma expressão querendo dizer que você sempre vai escolher algo ao invés de outra coisa, que dá ampla preferência a isso.

Na sequência Olga diz que jóias duram mais que cumprimentos e são sempre sinceras (ou seja, um presente sendo uma jóia), e ainda disse "nunca se esqueça disso.".
O autor quiz contrastar a romântica versus a que gostava de aventura em primeiro lugar.

Well, there's no ambiguity in my opinion, it is pretty clear. The equivalent of "qualquer dia desses" would be "one of these days". It can't "also" be translated that way because that's the only way you can go about doing so as far as context goes, you can use different words but the gist and overall context needs to remain the same. "Qualquer dia desses" is a different context and does not fit into the message intended to be conveyed by the sentence in question, therefore you can't translate it like that.

This is an expression used to emphasize that you will ALWAYS choose this over that. The will is their volition based on the fact that they would always choose one thing over another, as that is their preference (and perogative).

O que está em negrito significa "eu aceito os cumprimentos..."
...over jewels any day. (a respeito das jóias qualquer dia desses.)

Ou seja, a frase toda seria "Qualquer dia desses eu aceitarei os comprimentos sobre as jóias."
