Uso do "there" em "There comes a time"
"there just are not enough hours in the day."
estaria certo escrever dessa forma?
"it are not enough hours in the day."

nunca entendi bem o uso de "there" nesse tipo de senteça. não sei usar, mas isso não impede que eu entenda a sentença onde o mesmo está presente.
por que o verbo to be está no presente aqui? não seria were?

Ex.: There comes a time when you need to forgive. >> Chega uma hora que você precisa perdoar.
Ex.: There comes a time when you change. >> Chega uma hora que você muda.

O "it" não é usado assim em inglês. Não faz sentido. Não tem função natural no inglês usado desta forma.
There just aren't enough hours in the day. >> Não há horas suficientes no dia. - forma contraída
Ou
There just are not enough hours in the day. >> Não há horas suficientes no dia. - forma não contraída.

Complementando. Para falar de algo "existir" em inglês, pode-se usar
there is time = tem tempo, sobra tempo
there was a shop here = tinha uma loja aqui
there will be an election = haverá (vai ter) uma eleição
A substituição de "there" com "it" não funciona, exceto para mudar o sentido da frase:
it is time = é tempo, chegou a hora (de fazer algo)
